I just moved from Honolulu after living there for 15 years. Everything kept getting more and more expensive over the years. It’s a gorgeous place to live but you pay for it in everything you buy or need to live. The traffic kept increasing as more people moved to Oahu and my commute to work was longer each day. When the Corona virus hit and the tourists went home it devastated the state. I know it will be years before Hawaii gets back to normal and it was too painful to stay. The state of Hawaii put all of their eggs in the basket of tourism never thinking that was a problem. Over 10.2 million visitors in 2019! Hawaii is now going broke and it’s predicted between 25,000 and 50,000 people will be moving in the next 6 months or be homeless on the streets in Honolulu. We already had the highest number of homeless in the country. I just moved as I can have a much better life in Virginia. Everything is so much cheaper here and I am so calm now, a huge difference in quality of life. I made the right choice!

I am moving for a promotion, I work for a government agency called the Natural Resource Conservation Service. I am fortunate to be where I am at and I love Montana, but I have always dreamed of living in Hawaii. My wife is an event coordinator with a degree in Hospitality and tourism and business so hopefully we can find something for her as well. I have Children 4, and 6 so they are still young enough to move around. Aloha!

I’ve been wanting to get out of Houston for a while now. I was furloughed (along with 40,000 other people) from my marketing job at a hospitality company and then a few weeks ago laid off. Since COVID hit I’d started doing yoga every day- it became part of my new normal. I swear it’s the only thing keeping me sane. So I’m learning to become a yoga teacher online! I’m also applying for remote marketing jobs. Depending on quarantine in Hawaii I’m planning to move in August!
