My boyfriend and I are from the West and East Coast respectively, and miss that coastal lifestyle! We miss public transit and culture and proximity to things that the Midwest just lacks.
after community. Clean and somewhat isolated
I moved to Kansas City from the San Francisco Bay Area because it is the heart of the Animal health Corridor. 60% of the world's animal health companies are in the corridor. We are launching an animal technology product called Scollar in August in collaboration with a global pharma company. Our team is remote. We were about to rent an office when COVID-19 forced us to continue to be remote. My family is in California so if I have to shelter at home I'd rather be where my family is. I feel alone and vulnerable far from home. I love KC so it has been a tough decision.
Off to Army Aviation training! If it still happens that is. If not, then we'll be staying put. :) :) :)
Even if we don’t hit a second wave of COVID It will take at least 6-12 months for LA to be “normal” again. I never thought I’d be leaving this city so soon but I’m chasing a business opportunity in KC.
When COVID - 19 hit, I immediately saw the writing in the pavement: connect with my roots and pair down. Play smart and learn new things. So I left SoCal and have been looking forward to the day where I can re-expand in a more sustainable way That focuses on the long and short game.
My wife actually left me for a co-worker the week before New York shut down. I'm not working currently so without a job, a partner, or a life keeping me tied to NY I was free to come "home" to KC and spend one last responsibility-free Summer with friends and family before eventually going back to New York for the second semester of life.
Cost of living and the politics of PA
We had been talking about moving back to the Midwest for a few years now. We have two small boys in a tiny Brooklyn apartment. They deserve safe access to the outdoors. We also want to put down roots, own a home, have a backyard with a garden and a less transient community to become a part of. Large cities are great for young professionals.
