Laid off
My job moved to a new office 20+ miles north, it would put me driving through a massive traffic snarl/interchange every day during peak rush hour. I don't want to drive for over an hour home every day when it used to be a 5-10 min drive. I am moving closer to my teams new office. During the stay-at-home orders traffic was great and I almost didn't want to move. However, now that people are emerging the traffic situation is getting out of hand. I already work 10+ hour days in construction and don't want to push 12 hours due to the drive. Found a place with better amenities and location, right near some friends of mine, all for slightly less than I was paying.
I’m fortunate to work for a financial firm that has offices in Redwood city, San Francisco, Boca Raton and Miami. I am in the process of accepting their relocation offer from the bay area to the Boca area. My family and I decided that homeownership was a goal for us and to get the home we need with the yard we want, etc, the bay area is not a long-term option. Now we are just waiting for the COVID-19 risks to diminish some before making the trek East.
