Beautiful, calm, weather, forest trails, Padden Lake, Pugeot Sound, San Juan Islands, Canada
We are moving primarily to be closer to family. Literally the only reason we live in the Bay Area is so that I can go into work every day. Now that my work is on "work from home" through the end of 2020, my kids can't go play with their friends, and my wife is struggling to relaunch her career in the middle of a global pandemic, there's no good reason for us to keep paying $5k/mo for rent when we can pay far less for a much more comfortable "work from home" life and be around the corner from our parents in case they need us. It's not clear what 2021 will bring, but I'm optimistic that, even if my current job doesn't let me keep working remotely, there are more companies out there that will be looking to hire remote tech teams.
